MODIFIED ATMOSPHERE (MAP)

To extend shelf life of certain food and beverage products it is necessary to evacuate residual oxygen from the head space of the container or flexible package prior to sealing. This is accomplished by using inert, heavier than air gasses such as nitrogen and CO2 which do not affect the taste or colour of the product.
